Carriage House Addition and Renovation:


The program includes a large Family Room, Kitchen, Master Suite and interior renovations to the remainder of the house. Due to Newport Zoning Regulations and the owner’s request to not apply for a Variance, the addition to this carriage house could only be increased by 50% of the existing footprint. Due to these limitations, maximizing the use of each square foot became critical to produce a well-functioning floor plan. This structure was built in the early 1900’s, the design is to be consistent with the existing through the use of materials, building mass and proportion. This project is located within the Newport Historic District.
